Meet the Team

David Miller
David is a Chartered Civil Engineer with an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering. David is also an incorporated member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a member of the Engineering Council and a fellow of the Geological Society of London.
He formed DAM in 1987 and has 36 years experience in the field of Geotechnical Engineering within the UK.

Dave Calder
Technical Manager
Dave joined DAM in 2016 after five years working as a geophysicist in the marine seismic industry. Dave has degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and Geophysics and is responsible for all of our geophysical services, taking each project from planning through to the survey works and then final reporting. Dave is pushing for greater integration of geophysical methods into our Phase II site investigations and in the civil engineering sector as a whole.

Stephen Milne
Senior Environmental Scientist
Stephen has been part of the DAM team for the last 12 years. In that time, he has contributed to a diverse range of projects located across Scotland with recent projects including Dundee Waterfront’s Riverside Regeneration, Waterfront Plaza Leith and the Queen’s Quay regeneration at Clydebank. He has an extensive background in contaminated land and more recently has been focussing on design and implementation of remediation strategies including gas protection measures.

Kenny McLaren
Geonvironmental Scientist
Kenny joined DAM in 2017 after graduating with a distinction in his MSc in Environmental Engineering. He is experienced in the design and reporting Phase I and II site investigations for a variety of development projects. Kenny specialises in environmental risk assessment, contaminated land assessment, ground gas risk assessment and asbestos  in soils. He is in the process of developing skills in the validation of ground gas protection systems.

Emil Tanasie

Emil joined DAM in 2021 and brings his experience in a raft of geophysical and surveying methods - from large scale marine seismic projects to the detailed world of near surface geophysics.
Emil is helping to plan, execute, process and report various types of geophysical survey which are helping to complement intrusive site investigation methods.

Kyle Borland

Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Kyle joined DAM in 2022.

Judith Porter

Student Geophysicist
Judith has been working with DAM since June 2021 on a year in industry placement during her degree.
She is a student at The University of Edinburgh in her 4th year of her MSc in Geophysics and Geology. She is contributing to the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical surveys as well as learning about geotechnical investigation.
