Environmental Risk Assessment

To characterise the contamination risk posed to a site, we undertake qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, specific to the development proposals, site conditions and environmental sensitivity.

As part of a Phase I and Phase II site investigation, these assessments use published generic assessment criteria for comparing to site data as part of a Generic Quantitative Risk Assessment (GQRA). These can be conducted on both soil samples and groundwater/surface water samples.

If a GQRA identifies an unacceptable level of risk, a Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA) can be undertaken by developing site-specific assessment criteria and by performing modelling of contamination migration.
